  Laurel Tree Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be used for a variety of things, including but not limeted to: habit control, weight joss, aelf-esteem, test-taking sSuccess, life serenity, sleep well, creativity, vanquishing fear and maximizing sports performance, Etc.

Hypnosis is a technique whereby you log on to your powerful, subconscious mind – or deep mind –and in so doing, you bypass your busy, buzzing, distracting conscious mind. Like your heart constantly beats or your lungs constantly breathe -- your conscious mind is simply doing the job it was made to do, that is, constantly thinking, evaluating, planning, analyzing, considering, etc – the list is endless!

However, your subconscious mind has stored up every experience you’ve ever had – from birth and even possibly from the womb -- and it is from this potent, compelling personal library that you draw all your beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and reactions. It is also believed that the subconscious mind is the seat of creativity and holds collective images from the experience and evolution of the human race. It is my belief that at this point in human history we are only just beginning to understand the immensity, depth and potential of the subconscious mind!

What you’ve probably learned from stage hypnotists or Hollywood movies does a disservice to the practice of hypnotherapy. Please steer clear of any hypnotherapist or hypnotist who claims they are going to “control” your actions or behavior! The truth is that you are always in command of yourself and you would never do anything while in a hypnotic state that you wouldn’t do while fully conscious – and that includes quacking like a duck! Hypnotherapy is safe and mostly always relaxing and pleasant.

Despite the popular notion that only some people are "good subjects," just about everyone can be hypnotized.  In fact, most of us are in trance states on a regular basis in our daily lives.  Have you ever driven home from somewhere and realized that you were so wrapped up in your thoughts or daydreams that you don't even recall the trip?  Or after watching a particularly good movie, have you ever realized that you had lost track of where you were and how much time had passed?

In my work with clients, I don’t believe that you have to be in an extremely deep trance to do the work – in fact -- you may not even feel that you are hypnotized at all. Some people report that when they open their eyes afterwards, they have the feeling that they may have been working on a “different level” but they usually feel relaxed and serene.

Your subconscious mind is always "eavesdropping" on your conscious mind -- so if you are constantly reinforcing certain limiting ideas to yourself by thinking thoughts such as "I'm just not good at relationships " or "I've always been afraid of flying,” then those thoughts will more than likely be a reality in your life. What you have done is set up a pattern or worn a groove that becomes manifest.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnotic techniques to set up new patterns and wear new grooves to shift behaviors and effect personal change. And in my practice, I believe that we may also need to do some crucial work to unearth the source of your limiting belief and heal pieces of your history before we can reframe the belief in a positive way.
